Maison & Objet

Those of you who have been paying attention to this blog over the last year will recall my penchant for this show and may remember the pixel stretching carpet by Richard Hutten that I posted 12 months ago.

This time around it’s the turn of Carpet Reloaded (no longer online as of 10.10;19 Sorry) to take a bow. What at first glance appears to be a well worn and slightly tatty tapis is, in fact, a cleverly woven brand spanking new carpet that only appears to be ever so slightly threadbare with white thread imitating the worn-out bits. A grunge carpet no less that appears to have been roughed up in Photoshop. I wonder though, when it is in situ, what the uninitated will make of it. It just looks so real, you could be mistaken for thinking that the owner had fallen on hard times. In fact, the opposite would be true. These babies are sure to be expensive!
